PROFILE

 

Dr Tony Shepherd PH.D currently CHief Instructor to IKASA has trained in Martial Arts for some 27 years, holding a 1st Degree Black Belt in Judo, 1st Degree Black Belt in Karate, 5th Degree Black Belt in Kickboxing and 6th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon-do. Not to mention a Ph.D in the Oriental art and Therapies and an MICM from the Institute of Conflict Management.

 

Master Shepherd has a vast amount of knowledge of both the Martial Arts and the Security Industry. Having served for many years in both the Military Police and South Wales Police on active duties in both Northern Ireland and the Falklands and training duties of police officers and Special Forces personnal.

 

Master Shepherd continues with many interesets within the security field providing training to organisations in Conflict Resolution, Criminal Investigations and Close Protection for a worldwide international company.

 

Having been awarded for many outstanding achievements, Master Shepherd was recently entered in the Orld Wide Hall of Fame for his contribution to International Management. In 2003 received the MAYBO 'Open Palm Award' for teching Staff Safety by the British Security Industry Authority. The first person in the UK to receive this award.

 

In summary, an all round Master with high values of expertise and skills, training

students and black belts alike to further a code of excellence.


Grading Rights
Within the IKASA the grading rights standard is strictly adheared to. Here is the break down of instructor rights and levels of which an instructor may grade students.

 - Must have been a dan grade for at least 6 months
 - Must have completed the approved instructors course
 - Must have a recognised first aid qualification
 - Must be 18 years or older
 - Must be an individual school instructor and not an assistant instructor
 - Can only grade that individual style as per qualification.

  To grade student to: Must hold grade:  
  9th Kup/Kyu    
  8th Kup/Kyu    
  7th Kup/Kyu 1st Dan  
       
  6th Kup/Kyu    
  5th Kup/Kyu 2nd Dan  
       
  4th Kup/Kyu    
  3rd Kup/Kyu 3rd Dan  
       
2nd Kup/Kyu  
  1st Kup/Kyu    
1st Dan & Above 5th Dan or Chief Instrucotr
  Specialist instructors of independant arts/styles may grade upto one level beneath thier grade with the concent of the Chief Instructors of the IKASA.  

Dan grading time frame
 *Must be activly involved.
1st dan  -> 2nd Dan 2 Years
  2nd Dan -> 3rd Dan 3 Years  
  3rd Dan  -> 4th Dan 4 Years  
  4th Dan  -> 5th Dan 5 Years  
  5th Dan  -> 6th Dan 6 Years
